Decorative Vases, Ceramics & Bronze for the Home

Objects that carry a room without being loud — vases, planters, figures and lanterns, made by hand in Luoyang.

What a Room Needs

A shelf, a console or a corner needs one object that holds the eye. Small pieces get lost; the piece has to have enough presence for the space it is standing in — and enough restraint not to fight everything else in it.

A Note on Chinoiserie

European chinoiserie was an eighteenth-century imagining of China — wallpaper, lacquer and porcelain made in Europe, in a China that never existed.

What we sell is the other end of that story: objects made in the country that was being imagined, by hand, in the forms that were actually used here.

Pairing

A single large piece reads better than a group of small ones. Where two pieces are used, put them on different levels — a console and a shelf — rather than side by side.

Ceramic and bronze sit well together: the glaze catches light, the patina absorbs it.
