Bronze Replicas — Lost-Wax Casting Supplier

We cast in bronze by the lost-wax method — 失蜡法 — and finish every piece by hand. Ritual vessels, figures, animals and mirrors, modelled after excavated originals and patinated to their surface character. Gilding available on request.

Wax Out, Bronze In

Lost-wax casting is old enough to be described in the Chinese ritual texts. A model is built in wax, encased in a clay investment, and fired until the wax runs free. What is left is a hollow mould that holds every detail of the original — and molten bronze is poured into it.

The technique is why complex bronze forms exist at all: interlocking handles, openwork, the thin legs of a tripod. A simple two-part mould cannot do it.

We work from excavated references. Where a piece survives only in fragments, we reconstruct the missing form and say so on the quotation.

Craft Grades

Every line is graded the same way: by how much of the work is done by hand, what it is made of, and how the finish is treated. The grade is stated on your quotation so you know exactly what you are buying.

Pricing depends on size, craft grade and order quantity. Request a quote for your specification.

  1. Hand-built

The form is made by hand throughout — thrown, modelled or built up.

  2. Hand-finished

The form may be press-moulded or cast, but all finishing, carving and decoration is done by hand.

  3. Studio grade

Hand work on a controlled form, with the maker's own glazes or patinas.

  4. Presentation grade

The highest hand-work content in the line, selected for finish and consistency. Intended for gift and collection channels.
