  • Shaped by hand, not moulded

Each blossom is built up petal by petal before firing, so the flower sits on the plate as a modelled form rather than a cast repeat.

  • Relief, not print

The peony stands proud of the plate surface. The depth is in the porcelain itself, not applied on top of it.

  • Deep gold glaze

A deep gold glaze over a light body, with the carved leaves picked out in blue-green so the flower reads against them.

  • Checked and packed by hand

Each plate is finished, inspected and packed by hand before dispatch, in packing cut to the plate.

Craft & Materials

Body and glaze

The plate is made in porcelain — a light, close body that takes a deep glaze without clouding it. The blossoms are modelled from the same body and attached before firing, so they are part of the plate rather than an addition to it.

What is done by hand

The flower is the hand-worked part: petals are shaped individually, then arranged and adjusted until the bloom reads correctly from the front and from the side. The plate itself is formed to a controlled round, which is what makes the finished piece consistent enough to order in quantity.

Colour and finish

The glaze is a deep gold, and the carved leaves are picked out in blue-green. Colour can be matched to a sample you send, within what the glaze will do — some tones move in the kiln and cannot be held to a flat reference.

Procurement FAQ

Do you sell to individuals?

We supply to businesses, but there is no minimum on a first sample order. Write to us with what you need.

Can I order a sample first?

Yes. A sample is made and approved before the production run.

Is this an excavated piece?

No. Everything is made now, by hand, after historical forms. Nothing on this site is an original.

Can you match a colour or a form?

Yes — send a photograph, a drawing or a reference piece and we will quote it.

What is the minimum order?

It depends on the line, the form and the finish. It is stated on your quotation.

How do you pack ceramics for export?

Export cartons with the padding and separation the material needs. Packing details are confirmed on the order.
